Tremaine Wright is an attorney, entrepreneur, small business owner, activist and second-generation Bedford-Stuyvesant resident who still lives on the same block where her grandparents raised their family. She is committed to preserving the rich legacy of our community and building a strong foundation for the future.


  • Elected to the State Assembly in 2016, serving the residents of Bedford-Stuyvesant and Northern Crown Heights

  • Chair of the 60-member NYS Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislative Caucus

  • Chair of the Assembly Subcommittee on Foster Care

  • Graduate of Duke University and the University of Chicago Law School who has practiced law at Brooklyn Legal Services

  • Volunteer for the City Bar Association's Neighborhood Entrepreneur Law Project (NELP), helping small business owners

  • Organizer of the Tompkins Avenue Merchants Association (TAMA)

  • Owned and operated Common Grounds, a neighborhood coffee house
